Froggy Times Writer Needed

I like to talk a little bit about the thinking or inspiration that's gone into a game when I publish it. I've mentioned that this game is inspired in part by Alex Robert's "Precious Little Animal", which I very much enjoyed playing. Another gratitude game I've played recently is "Kinder World", for mobiles. That allows you to note one thing you're grateful for from the day when you go to water the virtual plant you're growing in the game.

For "Froggy Times Writer Needed", I was thinking about how business cards are portable. Being able to carry one in your wallet would make it easy to quickly jot down good events as/when they happen. The headline format and the size of the card means that any description is brief, and I think that can also help the game feel manageable. It should be relatively easy to just reach for it and dash off a headline. But because you replace the card each day for a week, there can also be a moment as you swap out an old card, where you can reflect on the nice things you've experienced over the course of the day.

While longer form gratitude games definitely have a useful place, I have had some weeks where I would struggle to find the energy to play one. So this is a shorter form, portable game that I deliberately want to be easy to pick up and play. Also the whimsy of The Froggy Times is meant to encourage lightness from the start. Gratitude does not have to be about something large or major - though those events are also wonderful. In the examples I gave on the card I wanted to highlight simple, everyday, sensory experiences that can bring a moment of pleasure. Frogs are small and we love them for it. Small pleasures can be savoured and enjoyed in their own right too.

I also wanted there to be an automatic "win" state that occurs simply from playing over time. No barriers to entry or glass ceilings for frog journalism on my watch!
